Samsung’s unveiling of the Gear Fit 2 is rapidly approaching while information and images of the upcoming wearable device continue to leak online. After the South Korean company posted images of the Gear Fit 2 on its website, Twitter user @esse1000k posted pics of the fitness band.

It seems it’s about time Samsung launched a new fitness band since the original Gear Fit activity tracker was released in spring 2014. It came with a heart rate monitor, curved super AMOLED display, contoured design and was dust and water resistant. It’s highly likely that the Gear Fit 2 will also incorporate these features and even more.

Rumors say that the Gear Fit 2 will keep the 1.84-inch screen size, but pack 4GB of storage, together with integrated GPS and multiple fitness features. The Gear Fit came with 128 x 432 pixel resolution and its successor is expected to have at least the same display resolution.

Gear Fit 2 will surely come with integrated S Health, together with all the features and options that implies. It will offer users the possibility to dismiss calls and alarms with a simple tap or customize their own alerts from third-party apps, just like on the Gear Fit.

Gear Fit 2 to come with Samsung’s Bio-Processor

The original Gear Fit weighed just 27 grams, we’ll have to wait and see if the Gear Fit 2 will match that or be even lighter.

It is said that the Gear Fit 2 will have IP68 certification, which means that the band could be submerged at 1.5 meters for 30 minutes and still work optimally. This would make the band ideal for users who enjoy snorkeling, surfing, swimming and other water sports.

From the leaked images, it’s easy to see that the new fitness band will boast a more robust design but still follow the main guidelines of the series.

For the first time, Gear Fit 2 will come with embedded Samsung Bio-Processor with the capacity to measure body fat and heart rate, and to provide information on various medical metrics.

It remains to be seen what specs and components the South Korean company will integrate in its upcoming Gear Fit 2 while rumors have it that the wearable device could be launched as soon as June.
