14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung is said to have already begun testing the international variant of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, set to be announced in April during a dedicated event that will be held in New York. Information about the upcoming phone has been leaking for some time now and a new report reveals the number of units that Samsung intends to produce until the launch date.
Samsung has confirmed for ET News that it will produce 10 million units of the Galaxy S8 until the rumored launch in April. The phone maker is said to be preparing two variants of the Galaxy S8, one with a 5.7-inch display and another one with a 6-inch screen - both models will feature dual-curved displays. The reveal regarding the number of units to be produced most likely refers to both variants.
The South Korean company has also confirmed that it has already delivered the production plan to its suppliers and the first batch of parts will arrive to manufacturing plants during the second month of this year. Mass production will reportedly start in March.
The Galaxy S8 is said to come with 8GB of RAM
If you’re wondering why 10 million specifically, it’s because Samsung has sold 10 million units of the Galaxy S7 in the first month after the device hit the market. Apparently, it was quite a record for the company and since the Galaxy Note 7 was disconnected, chances are the Galaxy S8 will sell at least 10 million units in the first weeks after its launch.
In addition, Samsung has offered discounts to some Galaxy Note 7 owners for the Galaxy S8 and Note 8, which are likely to boost sales.
Even so, if rumored specs are to be believed, the Galaxy S8 is shaping up to be quite an exciting smartphone featuring Exynos 8895 or Snapdragon 835 SoC, 8GB of RAM, and dual 12MP cameras on the back. In addition, it could come with an 8MP selfie shooter in the front and the S Pen as an external accessory.
