Samsung is working hard on its upcoming flagship phone, the Galaxy S8, and some details about its design are already known. The South Korean company will ditch the flat model and provide the S8 in two variants, both with a curved display.

Multiple renders of the upcoming phone have already surfaced over the past few months, and the first ones from this year show a sleek and curvy design, with much smaller bezels on the top and bottom. The renders by Veniamin Geskin reveal many design changes in the new phone, especially the considerably smaller bezel at the bottom.

Additionally, Samsung is said to have ditched the physical home button and it seems it will place the fingerprint scanner at the back of the device. The render also shows the Samsung logo at the bottom, not at the top as on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The Galaxy S8 may also come with one of Samsung’s top security features introduced on the Note 7, the iris scanner.

The Galaxy S8 appears to resemble the S7 edge in some respects

The renders show a very thin Galaxy S8, and the side of the phone resembles that of the Galaxy S7 edge with a symmetric back panel. The new image also reveals a rear camera almost identical to the one on its predecessor, while other previous renders showed a round main camera.

The LED flash appears to be located next to the rear camera and the device seems to have a USB Type-C port. However, the latest rumors say that the smartphone will come with a dual-lens camera, but the render reveals a single camera sensor on the back.

Moreover, a headphone jack is also visible at the bottom of the phone, although some say that Samsung might follow the market trend and align with smartphone makers like Apple and Moto in removing the 3.5mm jack. The conceptual renders do show a sleek design for the new phone and we’ll just have to make do with renders until actual images of the phone leak.
