Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 and LG’s G6 are two of the most anticipated smartphones to be announced in the coming weeks. While we’re certain that LG will unveil the G6 on February 26, the rumored March 29 announcement date for the Galaxy S8 has yet to be officially confirmed.

Samsung might make the Galaxy S8 and S8+ available for purchase on Friday, April 21, according to a new report by ETNews. The report says that the smartphone will presumably be made available in all markets on that date, but some have said that fans in South Korea could get it a week early. However, in order to ensure stable supplies of the phone, the Galaxy S8 will launch globally and in Korea on the same day.

The report quotes a “high-ranking official for a mobile network provider” in South Korea as saying that Samsung has yet to determine if a pre-sale for the Galaxy S8 will be conducted.

LG G6 to arrive one month earlier, on March 10

The company is aiming at observing the initial market response for the LG G6 and might introduce a pre-sale campaign for its latest flagship afterward. It seems that Samsung is keeping this option open, especially since pre-sale strategies help determine the marketing strategy for upcoming months. According to the report, Samsung might open pre-sale for the Galaxy S8 on April 13, but that date is subject to change.

By the end of this week, LG will announce the G6 and make it available for purchase on March 10. LG will start the pre-sale campaign for the G6 on March 2 and end it on March 9, while the phone will be widely made available for purchase on the next day.

LG has been heavily promoting its premium G6 smartphone and the product is expected to gain some momentum on the market before Samsung launches its Galaxy S8 flagship.
