Samsung has ended the Galaxy Beta program for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones, which means that they will soon start receiving software updates to Google’s latest version of Android OS. But those won’t be the only Samsung smartphones to be updated.

The Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A3 (2016) were recently spotted on GFXBench running Android 7.0 Nougat, according to a report. This means that the two phones could receive updates to 7.0 Nougat fairly soon, but only after Samsung releases the update to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

The Galaxy A5 (2016) spotted on GFXBench had a 5.2-inch display and ran an octa-core Exynos SoC clocked at 1.6Ghz, with 2GB of RAM and Mali-T720 graphics processing unit. The Galaxy A3 (2016) running Nougat had 1.5GB of RAM, a quad-core Exynos processor clocked at 1.5Gz, Mali-T720 GPU, and a 4.7-inch display.

Samsung did recently say that it would release Nougat to the two phones by the end of January. This means that the Galaxy A (2016) series could get the update by February at the earliest. The company did start to roll out Android Nougat to some Galaxy S7 and S7 edge owners, but the move wasn’t part of a global rollout.

The Galaxy A (2017) line is also expected to get Nougat

Recently, the Galaxy A5 (2016) was also spotted on Geekbench running Android 7.0 Nougat, but the phone carried the code number SM-A525F, which is actually for the Galaxy A5 (2017). Still, the specs of the device did indicate it could actually be the Galaxy A5 (2016).

There’s also the possibility that Samsung could bring the 7.0 Nougat update to the Galaxy A (2017) line as well, but that remains to be seen. Australian carrier Optus already started testing a Nougat update for the Galaxy A5 (2016) a few weeks ago.
