Samsung is expected to release two smartphones this month, the Galaxy S8 Active and the refurbished Galaxy Note 7R, but the company’s main focus is surely on the upcoming Galaxy Note 8. The latest reports show that Samsung is testing a Galaxy Note 8 variant running Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

The report by Galaxy Club shows that the Galaxy Note 8 will have the same aspect ratio as the recently released Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, namely 18:5:9. The phone will also come with the Infinity Display in the front, which means that the physical button could actually be removed, as previous leaks suggested.

The fingerprint scanner will most likely be located underneath the screen, a feature that should have arrived on the Galaxy S8, but Samsung decided otherwise as the technology wasn’t ready for mass production on time.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 could arrive by the end of summer

Sadly, the report doesn’t reveal any details about internal specs on the upcoming Galaxy Note 8, but the phone is expected to come with Exynos 8895 processor inside or Snapdragon 835 SoC, depending on the market. It will also have 6GB of RAM and a dual-camera setup on the back.

However, the Galaxy Note 8 won’t be the first Samsung smartphone with two camera lenses on the rear, as the company is expected to announce the Galaxy C10 this summer, before the Galaxy Note 8 arrives in August or September. The fact that Samsung is already testing Android 7.1.1 Nougat on the upcoming phone could mean that the device might be announced by the end of summer, but an exact unveil date has yet to be officially announced.

The Galaxy Note 8 is quite important for Samsung considering that it’s the successor to last year’s discontinued Galaxy Note 7, which caused massive financial loss for the company. The refurbished Galaxy Note 7R is expected to arrive in Korea this month, with a price tag of about $620.
