Murata Manufacturing would only be a secondary supplier

We're almost two months away from the official unveil of the Samsung Galaxy S8, if we are to believe the latest reports suggesting the flagship will be introduced on March 29.

By now the South Korean company should have already signed partnerships with all suppliers manufacturing components for the Galaxy S8, even though the smartphone won't actually go on sale until late April.

One of the most sensible pieces of hardware that will be put inside the Galaxy S8 is the battery. In light of the events that happened in the last couple of months of 2016, we can safely assume that Samsung will take all the precautions necessary to avoid another Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.

Besides the extreme security measures taken by Samsung SDI, one of the companies blamed for delivering faulty batteries for the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung has its own plan to make sure that its upcoming flagship smartphone won't explode.

Korean news site Han Kyung reports Samsung has approached Japanese company Murata Manufacturing to be the secondary battery supplier for the Galaxy S8, behind Samsung SDI.

Murata Manufacturing is the same company that bought Sony's battery manufacturing subsidiary back in 2016, so it should cope with the large orders coming from companies like Samsung.

However, considering the fact that Samsung SDI will provide the bulk of the batteries for the Galaxy S8, the Japanese company should have no issues fulfilling any orders placed by Samsung.

Speaking of Samsung, the South Korean company hasn't commented on the matter yet, so there's no way to confirm the move for the moment.

While Samsung confirmed last month that the Galaxy S8 would not be announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) later this month, a new report claims the handset maker plans to run a one-minute teaser during its press conference taking place on February 26.
