The year’s biggest tech event, the Mobile World Congress, is right around the corner, but Samsung won’t be announcing its latest flagship smartphone there. Instead, the Galaxy S8 is expected to be unveiled on March 29 and released in mid-April.

In the past few days, we’ve seen several leaks and reports on the specs of the upcoming flagship, and a new piece of information coming from South Korea seems to refute previous rumors. A report by ITcle (via SamMobile) claims that the Galaxy S8 will have a 3,250mAh battery, while the larger S8 Plus will draw power from a 3,750mAh battery.

Last week, reputable leakster Evan Blass pointed towards a 3,000mAh battery for the standard model and 3,500mAh for the Plus variant. The rumored battery capacities would be quite similar to last year’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, with the latter incorporating a 3,600mAh battery.

Samsung might launch new accessories with the Galaxy S8

The report reveals information received from a Samsung battery supplier and claims that the final capacity can be corrected any time if Samsung requests it. Take this information with a grain of salt, as nothing is certain until the device is actually launched.

However, a 3,250mAh battery would make sense, since it would be slightly larger than the one on the Galaxy S7 and would allow for the smartphone to retain its slim design. In addition, we expect Samsung to be extremely prudent, especially when it comes to the battery inside its new phone.

The Galaxy S8 is also said to come with a pair of new wireless noise canceling headphones, that would be launched in multiple colors, except for white. The headphones are said to cost €130 and would allow users to hear outside sound while listening to music on the headphones. The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are expected to retain the 3.5mm headphone jack, which means regular headphones would work on the device as well.
