Initially slated for a late February release, the highly-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update for Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge was delayed. The South Korean company announced a few days ago that the update was postponed so that Samsung could “review its quality.”

Well, it appears that Samsung didn't need more than a couple of days to asses the status of the update, as many Galaxy S6/S6 edge owners have started to report they have successfully captured the upgrade.

According to SamMobile, Android 7.0 Nougat for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge is now slowly spreading across Europe. Customers in many European countries like Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Turkey and the UK confirmed the availability of the update.

Two European carriers have started seeding the update in Europe: Vodafone and Swisscom. In general, Android 7.0 Nougat should arrive on unlocked Galaxy S6 and S6 edge units, while carrier-branded versions should get it afterward.

So, if you own the Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925F) or the Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F), then you should look for firmware versions G925FXXU5EQBG and G920FXXU5EQBG, respectively.

Keep in mind that this is a fairly sizable update, as the file weighs in at 1.35GB, so make sure you have enough storage space before attempting to download the update, and that the battery is at least half charged.

Besides the standard new features and improvements brought to you by Android 7.0 Nougat, the update should also add improved usability of the Notification feature and Quick settings button. Also, the update brings a new UX, enhanced split screen function and many other tweaks.

We expect the update to expand to even more European countries, as well as other regions like Asia and North America, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
