As Samsung prepares to release the Galaxy S7 Active, images and specs seem to continue to leak online. VentureBeat has reported that it's got its hands on the full specs for the Galaxy S7 Active, and they appear to point to a smaller display size than it was previously thought.

Samsung and AT&T will be launching the rugged version of the flagship Galaxy S7 smartphone, the Galaxy S7 Active, on June 10. However, it seems that images and specs continue to surface online.

First of all, the design of the S7 Active didn’t change much from last year’s S6 Active model, but the device seems to be slightly larger, including an increased thickness of 9.9 millimeters.

The latest Active model also weighs more, 185 grams compared to its predecessor’s 170 grams. The increase in weight could be due to the fact that the S7 Active has a larger battery of 4000mAh, compared to S6 Active’s 3500 mAh. However, the successor model will have a smaller display size than previously thought, featuring a 5.1-inch, 1440 x 2560-pixel Super AMOLED display, the same as on the Galaxy S6 Active.

Galaxy S7 Active will launch exclusively at AT&T

The S7 Active will be coming with a microSD slot, and the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 system-on-chip from Qualcomm, coupled with 4GB of RAM, 1 GB more than on last year’s model. The new Active will run Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box.

It will feature a 12MP camera, down from the 16MP rear camera found on the Galaxy S6 Active. Still, it is set to come with a dual pixel sensor that delivers quality images captured in low-light conditions. The front-facing camera will have 5MP. It will have IP68 certification, and the smartphone will come in two color variants.

Just like last year’s Galaxy S6 Active, the handset will be exclusive to AT&T when it launches on June 10, as the leaked renders suggest.
