Bixby button remapping option now available

If you’re one of those lucky Samsung customers who got their Galaxy S10 earlier than expected, you better check for updates because the company has just released the first pack of improvements for your device.

The software update is live right now on the Galaxy S10+, and it should become available on the other models as well.

According to the official changelog that’s provided with the update, there are three big changes in this software update.

First and foremost, it improves the stability of the camera, and then, it refines the experience with the fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy S10+ comes with a fingerprint sensor embedded into the screen, so after installing this software update, the scanner should be faster and more reliable.

Bye-bye, Bixby!

The third and probably the most important change is the addition of a feature that allows users to remap the Bixby button. Samsung confirmed this feature at the Unpacked February 20 event, and now it becomes available for the first Galaxy S10 buyers, giving them the option to set the Bixby button to open a different feature or application on their devices.

This setting also comes with support for third-party apps, and it should soon roll out to users on previous Samsung Galaxy models with a Bixby key.

According to SamMobile, this software update also enables the Instagram Mode for the camera, which makes it possible to use the built-in camera app to quickly take a photo and create an Instagram story, without the need for launching the Instagram client separately.

Buyers who haven’t yet received the Galaxy S10 will be provided with this update out of the box. The rollout likely takes place gradually to devices across the world, but given the S10 isn’t yet broadly available for buyers, all models in use should get the update in the coming hours.
