Although none of the high-ranking Samsung officials has been blamed for the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, that doesn't mean no one is going to pay for what happened in the last couple of months.

Unfortunately, it won't be a single person that will take the blame, it's the entire Samsung mobile division that will suffer the consequences of letting a product such as the Galaxy Note 7 make it to the market.

According to a new report by SamMobile, the Korean media reports Samsung mobile division's employees won't be getting the usual bonuses for the end of the year.

Obviously, the reason is the Galaxy Note 7 saga, which didn't end too well for the South Korean company. Courtesy of the Samsung OPI reward program for employees, the bonus payments can go up to 50% of the annual salaries, as long as they are within the 20% margin of the company's excess profits.

However, since Samsung reportedly lost $5 billion in revenue due to the Galaxy Note 7 being recalled twice and eventually discontinued, these bonuses shrank considerably.

The media in South Korea reports that the bonus percentage for employees of Samsung's mobile division has been drastically cut from 50% to only 17%. The cut has been implemented due many factors, but the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco is the main reason.

For your information, due to strong smartphone sales, employees of Samsung mobile division received 50% bonuses in the last couple of years.

Well, desperate times call for desperate measures, so Samsung mobile division's employees can only hope that 2017 will be a better year.

On a side note, Samsung memory division employees will be getting their 50% bonuses at the end of the year, as the team performed admirably throughout the year and managed to bring the company more than 20% profits.
