Samsung has released a new ad to make fun of the iPhone X, this time mocking the LTE speeds of Apple’s flagship device.

In this new video, a smartphone customer walks into an Apple Store to discuss with what Samsung calls an Apple “Ingenius” about the download speeds of the iPhone X, only to find out that the anniversary model is faster than the iPhone 8.

When asked about the Galaxy S9, the Apple Store employee refuses to answer, suggesting that “the smartphone of the future,” as the iPhone X has been nicknamed, is actually slower.

Samsung praising Galaxy S9 LTE speeds

Part of the “Upgrade to Galaxy” series of ads, this new video aligns with Samsung’s previous efforts to praise the LTE download speeds of the Galaxy S9.

The company used information provided by Ookla’s Speedtest app to show that the Galaxy S9 is 37 percent faster than the iPhone X and 17 percent faster than the Google Pixel 2. The S9 uses a CAT 18 LTE modem, and according to Samsung, it should be able to reach a maximum speed of 1.2 Gbps.

“At Samsung, we’re constantly innovating and developing products that set the new standard for the industry. Our Galaxy owners never need to worry about whether they’re getting the best possible experience from their phone,” Justin Denison, Senior Vice President, Mobile Product Strategy and Marketing at Samsung Electronics America, said in a press release in May this year.

While Samsung has been rather aggressive in its marketing strategy for the Galaxy S9, and the company turned to Apple-bashing videos to promote its flagship, sales of the device have been rather slow since the debut earlier this year.

This is one of the reasons Samsung wants to bring the Galaxy Note 9 to the market sooner than originally expected, with the unveiling projected to happen on August 9 in New York.
