After introducing the Galaxy J3 Emerge in the United States back in January, Samsung is expected to launch yet another budget-friendly Android smartphone, the Galaxy J3 (2017). The smartphone will be picked by at least two carriers in the country, AT&T and Cricket Wireless.

However, as per Evan Blass' tweet, the Galaxy J3 (2017) will be available at AT&T GoPhone and Cricket Wireless as Samsung Galaxy Express Prime 2. If other carriers start offering the smartphone, it's likely they will use another name, which will make it even more confusing for customers.

Samsung has yet to make the Galaxy J3 (2017) official, so the only information we have is based on the leaks in the last couple of months. If Samsung plans to launch different variations of the smartphone, then some of the specs we're going to recap below might look different.

For example, the smartphone was spotted at GFXBench back in November 2016 with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on board, but we expect Samsung to put Android 7.0 Nougat inside the budget-friendly handset.

A Pro version might be announced as well

Also, the Galaxy J3 (2017) is said to come equipped with a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 308 graphics processing unit, 1.5GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.

We're also told by these leaks that the smartphone should feature a 5-megapixel camera on the back with LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel selfie camera.

As expected, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) will sport a 5-inch display with HD (720p) resolution. No details about the phone's battery have been leaked until now, but given the phone's rather low hardware configuration, it shouldn't matter that much.

As mentioned earlier, the South Korean company could also launch a beefed-up version of the smartphone, which will be called Galaxy J3 (2017) Pro, but this one might not be available in the United States.
