Last month, Samsung’s Galaxy Xcover 4 received WiFi certification, thus signaling that the company might release the smartphone soon. The device seems to have showed up on Geekbench as well, and some of its specs were revealed.

Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 carrying the code number SM-G390F surfaced at Geekbench and the listing gave away details about its specs. The smartphone appears to run Android 7.0 Nougat and the 14nm Exynos 7570 processor.

The upcoming Xcover 4 will be the first smartphone to feature the Exynos 7570 processor, which Samsung announced in August 2016. The SoC is designed for entry-level smartphones and comes with a quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU, coupled with Mali-T720 graphics processing unit. The processor integrates a Cat. 4 LTE 2CA modem.

Rear camera capacity is up to 13MP, with 8MP or less in the front

The chipset supports displays that have up to 720p resolution, which means that the Galaxy Xcover 4 won’t have a screen resolution higher than HD. Upon the launch of its chipset, Samsung did say that Exynos 7570 would offer 70% improved performance and 30% higher power efficiency compared to its 28nm predecessor.

We presume the Xcover 4 will have a rear camera capacity of up to 13MP, 8MP or less in the front, and 1080p video recording features, since the chipset doesn’t support more. The Xcover 4 could very well be slimmer than its predecessor, considering that the Exynos 7570 chipset has a reduced physical size by up to 20% compared to previous processors.

Not much else is known about the upcoming Galaxy Xcover 4 phone, but since it already received its certifications, the phone should be launched soon. Its predecessor, the Xcover 3, was announced two years ago, so it’s about time a successor was unveiled.

The Xcover 3 didn’t impress with its specs, as the phone relied heavily on its rugged design, IP67 certification for protection against water and dust, as well as features like altimeter and a compass. We expect the Xcover 4 to follow the same lines when it comes to design and specs.
