During last week’s Unpacked 2017 event in New York City, Samsung announced its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The smartphones are already available for pre-order in the US and Canada.

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will arrive on April 21, while the unlocked versions are said to be available for purchase starting May 9. While customers in the US are anxiously waiting for the pre-ordered phones to arrive in late April, it seems that Canadians could get the phones a few days earlier.

Several carriers from Canada intend to ship the Galaxy S8 earlier, on April 17. Specifically, customers who pre-ordered the Galaxy S8 or the Galaxy S8+ on Telus, Rogers, Videotron and Bell will receive their new devices starting April 17, according to a new report.

US carriers might ship the Galaxy S8 early

Carriers from the US might surprise their customers too and ship the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ early, as it happened in the past. Last year, T-Mobile started sending out Galaxy S7 pre-orders earlier, while it’s not unlikely for Verizon to do the same thing and ship the new Samsung smartphones ahead of time.

The Galaxy S8 is currently available at all major US carriers, for prices ranging from $720 to about $750, while the larger 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+ has a higher price tag of about $840. Of course, the phones are available on numerous plans and come with some promotions.

Customers can get discounts for the new Gear VR and Controller, Harman Kardon headphones, and 256GB microSD cards. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are currently available in Midnight Black and Orchid Grey color variants, while the Arctic Silver version will arrive later. Samsung said that it shouldn’t encounter any supply shortages for the new phones, but a recent report mentions that production yields are quite low for the front-facing camera on the Galaxy S8.
