Unsurprisingly, it looks very much like the Galaxy S6

Yes, it does seem to be true. Samsung will announce two Galaxy S7 smartphones next month at MWC 2016, each with at least two variations based on the amount of storage and chipset inside.

The information has been confirmed by various sources many times in the past, but this is the first time we actually have something to look at.

According to Evan Blass (via VentureBeat), the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will feature water resistance feature, something that Samsung skipped in the previous model.

But the most important thing is that both handsets will now come with microSD card slot for memory expansion and larger batteries, which we still don't know whether or not will be replaceable.

What we do know is that Galaxy S7 will very much look like the Galaxy S6, but that's a good thing, right? The first official press renders of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have just been leaked by @evleaks.

They provide us with some information about the possible changes Samsung might introduce in Galaxy S7's design over the previous model.

Same configuration of external buttons and ports

The physical Home button seems to be longer and rectangular, unlike the Galaxy S6 that packs a more rounded Home key. Samsung may have added a fingerprint sensor below, which probably had to be hidden under a slightly larger button, or maybe it's just a design choice.

The left side of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge feature the volume keys while the bottom side includes the USB Type-C port, the speaker grill, and the 3.5mm audio jack, which is located a bit to the left side, not in the middle.

The power on/off button is on the right side of the phone, a little closer to the upper side, but so that you can easily reach it with your thumb.

The configuration of these external buttons and ports is the same as Galaxy S6's, so there isn't much change in that department.

Since Galaxy S7 is said to come with a similar 5.1-inch display as the Galaxy S6, but a larger 3,000 mAh battery, the former is likely to be slightly heavier, but size-wise they should be the same.

The bottom line is Galaxy S7 will look very much the same as the Galaxy S6, but it will come with features that have been skipped in the previous model, such as microSD card and larger battery.
