Samsung's Galaxy S6 models were launched last year, and they included the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and the S6 edge+. This year, though, Samsung was believed to have decided against releasing an S7 edge+ variant in the S7 line. However, new information has just surfaced, suggesting that the company might actually reveal such a device.

Last year, Samsung debuted the Galaxy S6 edge+, which came with a display of 5.7 inches, half an inch larger than the screen on the Samsung S6 edge and the Galaxy S6. The rumor that Samsung wouldn't release an S7 edge+ variant surfaced at the start of the year.

At the time, it was said that Samsung intended to launch the S7 edge+ in Europe instead of the Note 7, which would have been available in the US and several other markets.

Now, it appears that such a model could be in the works, as accessories for the smartphone have appeared online recently, according to MobileXpose. Screen shields and skin protectors for the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge+ have surfaced on Armorsuit website. Several such products have been listed, including a full body skin protector. Screen protectors in black and white carbon fiber skin have also been posted for the price of $22.95 each.

The Galaxy S7 edge+ could be unveiled next month

This could be a clear indication that Samsung might actually release the S7 edge+ variant after all. While specs are currently unknown, it is to be expected that the phone would have a 5.7-inch display and specs similar to the Galaxy S7 edge.

The smartphone had 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of internal storage, and a 12MP rear camera with 5MP on the front. Battery capacity reached 3,600mAh, and a Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 processor was also provided.

The rumor has high chances of confirmation during August 2's unveiling of the Galaxy Note 7, considering that Samsung has a tendency to release two devices during Unpacked events. In addition, just a few days ago, a Samsung smartphone with a 6-inch display appeared on Zauba. It's believed to be a Note 7 variant with a larger screen, but it could actually be the S7 edge+ instead.
