Both smartphones have just passed FCC certification

We're less than a month away from the official unveiling of the Galaxy S7, Samsung's next flagship smartphone, and the device has just popped up at FCC (Federal Communications Commission).

Both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge passed the regulatory commission's approval, so they are now one step close to being released on the market.

Samsung announced its next Unpacked Galaxy 2016 event will take place on February 21, which will most likely coincide with the unveiling of the flagship smartphone.

However, neither of the two will go on sale until mid-March, at least, that's what the latest rumors claim. Also, the same rumors suggest Galaxy S7 (and possibly Galaxy S7 edge) will be rolled out globally on the same day, March 11.

Aside from the fact that Galaxy S7 has model number SM-G930A and Galaxy S7 edge is known as SM-G935A, little else is confirmed by the listing at FCC.

NFC and dual-band Wi-Fi confirmed

In fact, most of the information listed at FCC includes certification for dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC (Near Field Communication), as well as Bluetooth.

According to the rumor mill, Samsung Galaxy S7 will come with a 5.1-inch capacitive touchscreen display whereas the Galaxy S7 edge model should boast a larger 5.5-inch display. Both will support Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels resolution) and will feature Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

Depending on the region, Samsung's flagship smartphone will come equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor or the powerful octa-core Exynos 8890 CPU.

The former will be available in the Chinese and US versions while the latter should be included in the international model.

No word on pricing options yet, but we can safely assume the smartphone will be tagged with the same price as the Galaxy S6 one year ago. Naturally, the Galaxy S7 edge will be slightly more expensive since it packs a larger curved display.
