We've been talking about Galaxy S7's launch for quite a while now, as many sources familiar with the company's plans claimed the flagship will be announced on February 21.

However, the world's biggest mobile phone vendor did not confirm the information until today. For those unfamiliar with Samsung's launch events, it's worth mentioning that they are always unveiled during conferences called “Unpacked.”

This year's Unpacked event has just been confirmed on February 21. Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event is scheduled for February 21, 19:00 CET, but doors will open at 18:00, so be there in time if you plan to visit Barcelona during MWC 2016 trade fair.

The event will be live streamed on YouTube

Naturally, you won't be able to enter unless you're on the invitation list. The good news is, just like last year, Samsung will live stream the Unpacked 2016 event on YouTube, so millions of fans will be able to watch it live without having to attend the event in Barcelona.

During the Unpacked 2016 event, Samsung is expected to unveil two flagships, each with its own variations, based on amount of storage and chipset inside.

The standard version of Galaxy S7 is rumored to pack a 5.1-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, whereas the phablet model, Galaxy S7 edge should come with a much larger 5.5-inch display with similar resolution.

Two flagships should be unveiled

There will be multiple variants of Galaxy S7 available on the market, which will pack either 16, 32 or 64GB. A 128GB model hasn't been confirmed by the “rumor mill” yet. The same goes for the Galaxy S7 edge, which will feature different storage capacity.

Speaking of availability, we reported in the last couple of weeks about the approximate time frame that Galaxy S7 might hit shelves and the latest hearsay suggests that we should mark March 11 on our calendars as the start of the global rollout.

Apparently, Samsung has decided to make both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge available on the market about one month earlier than usual.

On top of that, they will go on sale globally around the same time, though we doubt the flagships will be released on March 11 in all countries where Samsung sells its smartphones.
