14 DAY TRIAL // Another day, another leaked image of the Galaxy S7 Active. Galaxy Club website has got its hands on a new picture of the Galaxy S7 Active, this time in a camouflage look, which looks more appealing than the “desert gold” variant we saw yesterday.
The image shows the Galaxy S7 Active featuring a polycarbonate back and corners, with extra added protection against scratches, and the occasional phone drop. The back panel also appears to be heavily textured for a better grip even with wet hands.
The device is rumored to carry the code number SM-G880, and it is believed that AT&T will be the sole retailer in the US. At this point, it is unknown if the phone will be available in Europe or other countries as well.
Yesterday’s model sported the AT&T logo on the back, but this model does not, which means that it could be the international variant of the handset. The fact that this camouflage model doesn’t come with an AT&T logo on the back suggests that the device might actually be available at other carriers in the US.
Galaxy S7 Active might come with IP68 certification
A recent benchmark test shed some light on specs of the upcoming device. It is believed to come with some features borrowed from the Galaxy S7, including the 5.5-inch display and 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.
Rear camera capacity is expected to reach 12MP, and there's also a 5MP front camera with auto-focus and face detection. It should also come with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage capacity.
Galaxy S7 Active should boast improved water resistance as compared to the standard Galaxy S7 smartphone, which received IP68 certification. This means that the device can be submerged in up to 5 feet of water for 30 minutes and function properly.
It is believed that the Galaxy S7 Active will also pass military specification (MIL-STD-810G) testing against environmental conditions, including temperature, dust and sand, shock and vibration, low pressure, and high altitude.
