The return kit also comes with a set of instructions

Now that Samsung officially killed the Galaxy Note 7, as production and sales were permanently halted, the company must now efficiently coordinate the operation of recovering millions of phones from owners.

Surely, the operation won’t be an easy one, and several weeks will pass until most of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphones make their way back to the South Korean smartphone maker. However, it seems that Samsung has already started sending return kits to Note 7 owners. Folks from XDA Developers received such a package.

The content of the return kit is a bit unsettling. Samsung apparently incorporated a number of boxes in the return kit, one of which is thermally insulated. It also contains a pair of gloves for handling the smartphone.

The return kit will only travel through ground shipping

The return kit comes with a set of instructions, reading “some individuals might be sensitive to the ceramic fiber paper lining the Recovery Box,” which is why Samsung included the gloves. Note 7 owners must power down their devices, put them inside the thermally insulated box, then in another box and repeat until there are no more boxes to fill. Users can keep the safety gloves. The return kit will only travel through ground shipping.

The inclusion of gloves does seem to indicate that Samsung is putting consumer safety above everything, but it might be a bit unsettling for some owners. Nevertheless, others might realize the risks of using a Note 7 smartphone and rush to return the smartphone more quickly.

This seems a more secure alternative to returning the Galaxy Note 7, as opposed to bringing it to a store. Still, that option is also available for Note 7 owners. Samsung announced that Galaxy Note 7 smartphones can be exchanged for a Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, or even another device at selected retailers. Moreover, customers can request a full refund if they don't want to exchange their units for other phones.
