Samsung globally unveiled the new Galaxy Note 7 earlier this month, and today, the company has officially launched it in India for the price of $895. Pre-orders will start on August 22 while the general release is set for September 2.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 has made quite the impression on the market with its powerful specs and attractive design that resembles that of the highly successful Galaxy S7 edge. The Galaxy Note 7 variant launched in India is dual-SIM, with a microSD card slot that can support up to 256GB of added memory.

It will be available for the price of $895 and will come in three color variants, namely Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, and Black Onyx. Apparently, Samsung decided against offering the Note 7 in Blue Coral in the country, although this color variant has recorded outstanding pre-orders in Canada.

The new Gear VR will be offered at a discounted price in India

The event in India has also brought the launch of the new Gear VR, which will be offered at a discounted price of about $30 for orders placed between August 22 and August 30.

The Galaxy Note 7 comes with an iris scanner, together with improved S Pen stylus features and a dual-edge 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It has IP68 certification, including for the S Pen, and comes with an octa-core Exynos 8890 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, USB Type-C port, and 3,500mAh battery.

Rear camera capacity reaches 12MP with dual pixel technology and auto-HDR feature. It also features a front camera of 5MP with f/1.7 aperture. The smartphone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It also comes with Knox security features and a fingerprint scanner. The new Gear VR supports other Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
