14 DAY TRIAL // It's finally happening, folks. If you're a Verizon customer and own a Galaxy Note 4, or you simply purchased Samsung's phablet through the Big Red's retail channels, you will be pleased to know Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will finally be available for download.
Verizon Wireless is the last major carrier in the US that releases Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy Note 4, as AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile had already done that months ago.
Today, Verizon updated its support webpage to let Galaxy Note 4 owners know they will soon receive Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on their devices.
“Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a software update for your device. This software update has been tested to optimize device performance, resolve known issues and apply the latest security patches,” reads Verizon's post.
If you own Samsung's Galaxy Note 4, then you should be looking for software update LMY47X.N910VVRU2BOK3, Verizon states on its website.
Android for Work and security patches
Verizon has also posted a short changelog that contains some of the most important changes included in this update. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 users should expect to get Android for Work, but the update will also remove some apps like Amazon Appstore and Amazon Widgets from the phone.
Furthermore, Verizon confirms the update should bring some upgrades to Samsung Knox Platform, a comprehensive suite of mobile enterprise security solutions.
We also expect the update to include many bug fixes and security patches, as many Galaxy Note 4 owners have been complaining Android 5.0 Lollipop has many issues.
While Verizon doesn't mention it, it's possible that this update will be released in stages, which means not all Samsung Galaxy Note 4 devices might get it at the same time.
Either way, you should make sure that your phone's battery is at least 50% charged and that your Galaxy Note 4 is connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network before you download Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
