T-Mobile customers who own the Galaxy Note 4 or the Galaxy Note edge will be pleased to know that the Magenta carrier has finally started the rollout of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for these two smartphones.

Back in September, the US-based carrier announced a new video calling service, which is only available for selected smartphones.

Initially, T-Mobile's video calling service powered by VoLTE (voice over LTE) was only available to customers who own the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5.

However, the carrier promised that more smartphones would be added on the compatibility list in the coming weeks.

The new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note edge also adds support for T-Mobile's video calling service for both smartphones.

According to T-Mobile, beginning November 30, both Samsung high-end smartphones will receive a software update to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop baseband version N915TUVU2COK2 (N910T3UVU1DOK2 for Galaxy Note 4).

As mentioned earlier, the operator confirmed this update provides Advanced Messaging and T-Mobile Video Calling.

Battery life and performance improvements have been added, too

Aside from that, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop also brings some security improvements and under-the-hood bug fixes and tweaks.

Keep in mind that the update is available to download over Wi-Fi or via Smart Switch">Samsung Smart Switch or Samsung Kies. Make sure your phone's battery is at least 50% charged and that you have at least 150MB of free storage space available on your smartphones before downloading the update.

Since the OTA (over the air) update is delivered in stages, it's possible that not all Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note edge owners will get it at the same time.

If you don't get notified on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, you can manually check for it by heading to Settings / About device / Software update.
