We reported to you last week that Samsung was planning to refresh its Galaxy J lineup with new phones likely to be showcased next month at Mobile World Congress (2016) trade fair.

One of the many smartphones to be unveiled in the next couple of weeks is the Galaxy J7 (2016). The unannounced handset appeared twice in various benchmark databases with different specs.

Today, the folks over at TechGrapple spotted the Galaxy J7 (2016) at GFXBench, and once again the smartphone is listed with different specs.

Our previous report mentioned the fact that the Galaxy J7 (2016) will be powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor.

The device tested was running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop right out of the box and packed a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

However, the new version of the smartphone that has just popped up at GFXBench runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, which looks more promising.

The new version comes with HD display, but better CPU

Sadly, the 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display now supports only HD (720p) resolution. Still, there's a chance that the prototype unit might not have reported the specs correctly.

Another difference between the previous version and the new one is the processor inside. The smartphone is now equipped with a 1.7GHz octa-core processor, paired with a Mali-T830 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

On the inside, the smartphone packs 16GB of storage, but we can safely assume the Galaxy J7 (2016) will include microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Also, Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) features a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with full HD (1080p) video recording and LED flash. In the front, the smartphone is confirmed to pack a 5-megapixel selfie camera with 1080p video recording.

Although we expect Samsung to launch multiple versions of Galaxy J7 (2016) in various markets, there's no telling which region will get the best of them.
