Last month, we reported that Samsung was working on an upcoming Galaxy Grand Prime (2016) smartphone, carrying the codename SM-G532F, as it had recently appeared on Zauba. New information shows that the smartphone received FCC clearance and was spotted on Geekbench.

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Grand Prime (2016) has received FCC certification, which means that the smartphone might be announced soon. The US FCC listing reveals that the South Korean company could release a dual SIM variant of the phone as well.

The Galaxy Grand Prime (2016) was also spotted on Geekbench and some of its specs were revealed. It will run a MediaTek MT6737T chipset with a quad-core 1.4GHz processor and will have 1.5GB of RAM. In addition, the smartphone will run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (2016) might come with a 5-inch screen

Rumors say the device will feature a 5-inch display with a 540 x 960 pixel resolution. Rear camera capacity might reach 8MP, with 5MP in the front for selfies and video calling. There's no information on the device's price, but considering the rumored specs, it shouldn't have a much higher price compared to its predecessor, which cost $220 upon launch.

The Galaxy Grand Prime (2016) will be the successor to the Galaxy Grand Prime that Samsung introduced about two years ago. The mid-range smartphone didn't have any impressive specs, with its 5-inch touchscreen capacitive display with 540 x 960 pixel resolution. It came with a 2,600mAh removable battery and an 8MP rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, and full HD video recording.

It also had a Snapdragon 64-bit chipset with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. Internal memory reached 8GB. Aside from the slight processor boost and RAM capacity, the Galaxy Grand Prime (2016) will be very similar to its predecessor and at the lower end of mid-range Galaxy smartphones offered by Samsung.
