Samsung has quite a few smartphones in its pipeline, most of them belonging to the Galaxy A series. Although we've been getting a lot of leaked information about these smartphones, we don't know for sure when Samsung plans to make them official.

We have already reported about Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 successors, which will apparently be released with the same name, Samsung adding only the 2016 Edition tagline.

There's one Galaxy A series phone that doesn't have any successors with the same name, but will be debuted by Samsung in the coming months.

Samsung Galaxy A9 appeared for the first time back in September. The name of the smartphone along with some of its specs were spotted in benchmarks, so we assumed Samsung would be announcing the Galaxy A9 pretty soon.

Today, the Galaxy A9 was spotted was again in Geekbench 3 database. Some of the specs that leaked back in September are confirmed in the most recent benchmark.

Still no conclusive info on the size of the display

For example, we now know for sure that Samsung will include an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 processor inside the Galaxy A9.

Also, the tested prototype unit runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system, so we must assume the Galaxy A9 will come preloaded with this version of Android at launch.

We still don't know what kind of display the Galaxy A9 will sport. While some reports claim the Galaxy A9 will sport a huge 6-inch capacitive touchscreen display, benchmarks reveal the phone packs a much smaller 5.5-inch display.

However, all reports agree that the phone's display will support full HD (1080p) resolution. Another piece of information these benchmarks confirm is the fact that Galaxy A9 comes with 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 510 graphics processing unit.

The rest of the phone's specs are a mystery for the moment, but we expect Samsung to come forward with an official announcement in the next couple of weeks.
