Possibly the slimmest Samsung smartphone to date

The Galaxy A8 is no mystery to Samsung fans since the smartphone leaked a few times in the last couple of months. We reported yesterday that the Galaxy A8 was spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission.

Well, it looks like the Galaxy A8 is not an entirely Chinese affair after all because the unannounced handset made a brief stop at FCC (Federal Communications Commission).

Unlike the Chinese model, the Galaxy A8 version listed at FCC lacks support for many LTE bands and offers just LTE band 41. This highlights the fact that this is a Chinese-bounded model and not the international version.

Apart from that, no other details on the smartphone have been revealed at FCC, but we already have enough from the previous rumors to get an idea of what the Galaxy A8 has to offer in terms of hardware.

The first Samsung smartphone to measure less than 6mm thickness?

But first of all, here is something interesting. It looks like the Galaxy A8 might be the slimmest Samsung smartphone soon to be available on the market.

The handset has been reported to measure 158 x 76.77 x 5.94 mm, which makes it the first Samsung smartphone to measure less than 6mm thickness.

For those that don't know anything about Samsung Galaxy A8, here is a short recap on what the rumor mill has “confirmed” in terms of specs.

The upcoming phablet sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

Samsung Galaxy A8 will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box. It will be packed with a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

The smartphone has also been confirmed to pack a 16-megapixel photo snapper on the back and a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front. We also know it will be powered by a 3,050 mAh battery and it will offer LTE support.
