At least three new smartphones will be announced

As we're getting closer to Consumers Electronics Show (CES), more details about the products that will be showcased at the trade fair leak online. We now have information about Samsung's Galaxy A 2017 series, which hasn't been officially introduced yet.

It's been one day since we reported about the water resistance capabilities of some of the Galaxy A 2017 smartphones, which have been confirmed by Samsung Mobile Malaysia.

Now it appears that the same Samsung branch has decided to make the announcement date official. So, the new Samsung Galaxy A 2017 series will be unveiled on January 5.

However, these devices will be launched at a dedicated event in Kuala Lumpur, not in Last Vegas, United States, where CES is taking place.

That is a rather strange decision, unless Samsung plans to have similar events in other major markets across the globe. Either way, we hope that all Galaxy A 2017 devices revealed early next year will be showcased at CES.

Speaking of which, there are three Galaxy A 2017 smartphones that we know of, but we're not sure if the South Korean company will make all three official at the same time.

Different display sizes, different batteries

The most expensive of the three, the Galaxy A7 (2017), is said to feature IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. The phone is expected to sport a large 5.7-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution and a decent 3,500 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), on the other hand, will come with a slightly smaller 5.2-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution, as well as a 3,300 mAh battery inside.

The cheapest of the three, Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017), is expected to pack a 4.7-inch display with HD (720p) resolution, along with a 3,000 mAh battery.

Unfortunately, it's not yet clear whether or not Samsung will put Android 7.0 Nougat on any of these devices. If not, we hope the latest version of the OS will be pushed as an update later on.
