The Samsung SM-G9198 clamshell device was spotted last month at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, so we assumed that it would go official in a couple of weeks.

Well, it looks like today is the day Samsung China has decided to take the wraps off the flip smartphone, GforGames reports.

The new clamshell will be available for purchase in China and will ship with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

Unfortunately, there's no telling whether or not the flip phone will be rolled out globally, but there's a high chance that those attending IFA 2015 in early September might be able to take it for a spin at Samsung's booth.

Despite its rather unusual form factor (for a smartphone), G9198 is a high-end device, so we expect it to be priced accordingly. For the time being, Samsung did not offer any details regarding the clamshell's outright price.

It comes with dual-SIM and 4G LTE support

Anyway, according to Samsung China, the G9198 is equipped with a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, which is complemented by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

On top of that, users can further expand storage up to 128GB via the phone's microSD card slot. Samsung G9198 comes with two displays of the same size and quality: 3.9-inch Super AMOLED with HD (768p) resolution.

The G9198 packs a 16-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Samsung G9198 offers both dual-SIM and 4G LTE support, but it also features other connectivity options like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS.

Last but not least, Samsung has confirmed that the G9198 is powered by a 2,020 mAh battery and features heart-rate sensor, just like many other Galaxy high-end smartphones.
