14 DAY TRIAL // South Korean handset maker Samsung is now expected to offer in-depth details on the cause of the Galaxy Note 7 battery explosions by the end of this year.
Sources in the industry claim the company is considering all possibilities to find the real issue behind the Galaxy Note 7 recall.
While the investigation is under way, Samsung has decided to ramp up Galaxy S7/S7 edge production to make up for the recalled Galaxy Note 7 units that should have been the main flagship on sale this holiday shopping season.
Samsung announced back in September that the main culprit for the explosions was the battery inside the Galaxy Note 7. However, it turned out that the batteries provided by Samsung SDI were not the only ones to explode, so the South Korean company was forced to recall the Galaxy Note 7 a second time.
It's been more than a month since the second recall was announced and Samsung hasn't yet found the exact cause of the accidents.
Hopefully, as the latest report claims, the company will eventually be able to provide the world with a straight answer, since the batteries inside the Galaxy Note 7 might not be faulty as Samsung previously suggested.
The good news for Samsung is that fans have remained loyal to the brand and many Galaxy Note 7 owners have decided to replace it with either the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge.
But the customers' patience has a limit, so the Galaxy S8 launch is crucial to Samsung's future in the smartphone business. The next flagship coming from the South Korean company is said to be a complete redesign of the Galaxy S series.
It remains to be seen if the Galaxy S8 is enough of an improvement over the Galaxy S7 or Note 7 and not just an incremental version of the previous flagships.
