Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 7 on August 2, as the company has already officially announced the launch event and will be broadcasting it on its website. Word is that Samsung could make the device available on the same day, but that remains to be seen.

A new report reveals that T-Mobile could open pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 7 next week, ahead of Samsung's official unveiling. The information has surfaced over at SamMobile, and although it would come as really good news to Note 7 fans, it's highly unlikely that this will actually happen.

The rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, considering that it's unclear why Samsung would give such exclusivity to T-Mobile, instead of offering the phone to all US carriers. Moreover, the Galaxy Note 7 is a flagship and one of the most anticipated devices to be released this summer.

It doesn't seem plausible that Samsung would spoil the launch event and have T-Mobile open pre-orders one week ahead of the official launch. Nevertheless, pre-orders for third-party accessories are open on multiple websites, as they surfaced just a few days ago.

Leaked image shows Samsung's usage warnings for the iris scanner

A new leak today shows some limitations on the iris scanner expected to be featured on the Galaxy Note 7, according to TechTastic. The iris scanner leaked in a video yesterday, and now images from China suggest that the iris scanner shouldn't be used to scan the eyes of babies.

Samsung's usage warnings say that users' eyes should be at least 20 cm away from the iris scanner in order to prevent harmful effects. The company says that the safe distance for scanning the eyes is 25 to 35 cm and that the sensor shouldn't be used in direct sunlight.

The warning also mentions that users with glasses or contact lens might face some trouble with the iris scanner as the technology might not be able to properly scan their eyes. This would certainly be inconvenient since it would mean that they would have to take off their glasses or contact lens every time they wish to unlock the phone.
