14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 is surely one of the most anticipated smartphones to be unveiled in less than two weeks, and one of its main selling points is the iris scanner. A new leaked video shows how the iris recognition technology works on the flat-display Galaxy Note 7 prototype.
The video has been posted on Weibo (via @stagueve), and it illustrates how the iris scanner works on the upcoming smartphone. The iris scanner has been rumored for quite some time, as the Note 7 will be the first Galaxy Note smartphone to sport such a feature. However, it won't be the first Samsung Galaxy device to have an iris scanner, since earlier this year, the company released the Galaxy Tab Iris in India.
The tablet packed an iris scanner and was designed for customers in the financial and government sectors. The iris scanner is believed to provide higher accuracy when it comes to user authentication on various devices and services.
The smartphone featured in the video is a Note 7 with a flat display
One peculiar aspect of the video is the fact that it shows the Galaxy Note 7 variant with a flat display. Word is that this is merely a prototype and that Samsung intends to only introduce the variant with a dual-edge screen.
The video also reveals that the iris scanner works like a charm and doesn't have any issues with authenticating users in no time. The iris scanner is surely one of the many powerful specs expected on the Galaxy Note 7, which might feature a price tag of €849 in Europe.
The Galaxy Note 7 is also expected to have a redesigned S Pen stylus and run a new version of TouchWiz, GraceUX. The smartphone could also have Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating over its 5.7-inch display and pack the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 and 4GB or 6GB of RAM.
