14 DAY TRIAL // The Google Pixel 4 leaks have started to arrive, and it looks like there is much more we can learn about the new phones than was previously revealed.
Some information about the upcoming Google Pixel 4 devices were leaked just a couple of days ago, via a couple of renders. These are not all usually all that important, but they revealed a big square camera housing on the back, in the corner; this design choice didn’t go all that well with the community.
Google can’t keep a secret, but information about the Pixel 4 is just now starting to arrive. There is nothing official, but some of the information comes with trustworthy sources, and it’s very likely to come true.
Spectral sensor
Courtesy to Unbox Therapy, we now know a lot more about the new Pixel 4, and some of the information is going to raise a lot of eyebrows. Google managed in the past couple of years to surprise people with new and innovative technology. They also managed to use the biggest possible notch on their phones.
First of all, the square housing on the back is home to two cameras, which in itself is good news. But the bit of information that’s exciting is the fact that a spectral sensor is also going to be present. It’s unclear what this does, but if we go by the name alone, we can imagine that it could allow the phone to detect other light wavelengths, like infrared and ultraviolet, which could help with white balancing, for example.
Furthermore, it looks like the Pixel 4 won’t have a notch, but a small bezel on the top. All in all, five sensors will be present up top, including the camera, which means that something akin to the iPhone’s FaceID might arrive as well. The fact that the phone doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor become all the more relevant.
Other features include wireless charging, USB Type C connector, and side facing stereo speakers. It remains to be seen how are these going to work in the real world. Now that the cat is out of the bag, more leaks are bound to arrive.
