The Pixel 3a is midrange and will have an XL variant

Pixel 3a has to be one of the few phones that completely revealed through leaks before the company had a chance to announce that it even exists.

Information and details about the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL have been trickling for days now, and there are very few unknowns, provided that everyone was correct. Although, with so many leaks that corroborate each other it’s difficult to believe they’re not true.

Google is planning (most likely) to announce a couple of new, midrange phones called the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, although calling them midrange is stretching it a little bit. The phones share many of the Pixel 3 characteristics and hardware, and more importantly the cameras. After all, the camera is the main reason why people even bring the Pixel 3 in any discussion.

Nothing left to hide

We already know pretty much all there is to know about the Pixel 3a, and its larger friend, the XL, but after the information provided by Roland Quandt on Twitter, there’s nothing left to do for Google when the I/O event starts.

The complete hardware details were posted, translated from another language, and they coincide with what’ve reported until now. Still, here are some of the highlights for Pixel 3a. It comes with a 5.6-inch OLED display running at a resolution of 2220x1080, always on mode, a 3000mAh battery, only 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and it’s based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 670.

As for the camera, it’s 12,2 MP with autofocus, optical and electronic stabilization, and f 1/8. Don’t be enthused by the number of megapixels; be happy about the f 1/8 aperture. It’s great for shots in low lighting situations.

The front camera has “only” 8MP, without all the bells and whistles of the back camera. Still, it should be great for selfies.

Roland Quandt also posted quite a few renders, making the reveal complete. If there is anything left for the Google to reveal, they’ll do so at the I/O event starting on May 7th.
