Pixel 2 is about to land in just a few days, and nothing official is known about the actual devices, besides the manufacturers, launch date, and colors. Here are pretty much all of the leaks and information about the upcoming flagship from Google.

Google likes to keep all the information about new products a secret, but very few things remain really hidden in this industry. Leaks and information about the upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have been pouring in the past few months. In fact, there is a lot to digest, which means that most of it will be fake.

On the other hand, there are a few trusted sources out there, so we do know a little bit about the two devices. Some things are good and innovative, and others not so much. Like all new products, there are always going to be a few people that are not happy about the new features and Google can’t do anything about that.

Everything there is to know about Pixel 2

The guys at xda-developers.com have gathered all the trusted leaked information and confirmed that with their own sources. Let’s start with the thing that will annoy the most and finish with the good.

Pixel 2 won’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack, which means that you won’t be able to use your favorite headsets. It’s something that can’t really be avoided, especially if Google wants to make this device waterproof.

The phones will comes with dual-speakers, which is a nice thing to have, especially after the last year disappointment with the first generation of Pixel XL that had only one speaker placed at the bottom.

It’s quite likely that a major update for the Pixel Launcher will also make its debut. The first version of the launcher was launched last year, along with the devices. Also, hints about a new launch have been seen already.

Another interesting feature is the addition of squeeze to launch, which is not exactly new to Android. It will work for Google Assistant.

Users should also be aware Pixel 2 will feature “Music Recognition,” which means that the phone will be able to recognize the music playing around people, and recommend similar tracks. Since Android is already listening just in case, you say “Ok, Google,” this option is not all that farfetched.

The camera application is also set to receive an upgrade, allowing the phone to focus on faces, and blur everything around them. It’s a portrait mode that should make this type of photography much more accessible.

Lastly, it looks like the Pixel 2 devices will also feature a permanent Ambien Mode, giving users a much more battery-friendly way of interacting with notifications.

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are set for an October 4 release.
