OnePlus 3 Mini was just recently benchmarked on GFXBench, and word got out that OnePlus might release such a device. Although the rumors were a little far-fetched, there was still a slight chance that they were true.

The OnePlus device dubbed OnePlus 3 Mini that surfaced over at GFXBench had a 4.6-inch display and came with almost the same specs as the recently released OnePlus 3. This means that the smartphone had a Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It also packed a fingerprint scanner and a 16MP rear camera, together with an 8MP front selfie snapper.

As it turns out, the rumors weren't true. OnePlus CEO Carl Pei has taken to Twitter to announce that the OnePlus 3 Mini won't be coming. He has simply written "No" next to the #rumorsshutdown tag. The message is pretty clear: OnePlus won't be releasing such a variant of the OnePlus 3.

OnePlus will be focusing on just its line of flagship smartphones

In fact, the company did state not long ago that it intended to focus on its OnePlus 3 flagship and, consequently, the line of flagship devices. OnePlus even retired OnePlus X smartphones a few weeks ago, and the company doesn't plan to continue the line. Still, there is a slight chance that the benchmarked smartphone was a variant of the OnePlus X, but that's just pure speculation at this point.

OnePlus delivered one of the most powerful smartphones this year, the OnePlus 3, which comes at a really affordable price and has a whopping 6GB of RAM, boasts the latest dual-core 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820, and has Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on its 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display.

The handset runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and was released in multiple countries. However, OnePlus didn't anticipate such a success with the smartphone, and it was forced to halt sales in numerous European countries until it can replenish the stock, sometime around September 12.
