OnePlus’ CEO Carl Pei has already confirmed that the company is working on an upcoming smartphone and even hinted towards the “5” moniker, but he hasn’t provided clear indication of this. Now, a staffer has taken to OnePlus forums and confirmed the retail name on the upcoming flagship smartphone.

As it was previously thought, OnePlus will skip the number 4 in the retail name for its upcoming flagship smartphone, as Asian cultures associate the number with bad luck. Instead, OnePlus’ new phone will carry the retail name OnePlus 5 and will be the direct successor to last year’s OnePlus 3T.

In addition, the staffer revealed an interesting detail about the rear camera on the upcoming phone. It seems that OnePlus has partnered with DoXMark to develop the camera, meaning that it has a big chance to be among the best on the market.

DxOMark will share its expertise with OnePlus

“We’re happy to announce that we have teamed up with DxO to enhance your photography experience with our upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 5. DxO is perhaps most well-known for creating the defining photography benchmark, the DxOMark. They’ve got years of imaging experience and expertise, both for professional cameras and for smartphones,” OnePlus said.

Currently, the HTC U11 stands at the top of the DoXMark scale, followed by the Google Pixel and the Samsung Galaxy S8, among others. Through this partnership, OnePlus 5 clearly targets the top positions on the scale.

Sadly, the staffer didn’t confirm the rumored dual-camera setup on the back of the OnePlus 5 or provide any details about the sensor’s capacity. However, the dual-lens system is all but confirmed, as many images of leaked prototypes showed two sensors on the back of the OnePlus 5, either in vertical or horizontal position.

Aside from this, the OnePlus 5 will surely feature the latest specs, including Snapdragon 835, 6GB of RAM and even a dual-camera setup on the front, but there’s little information to support the latter detail. Another rumor reveals that OnePlus might actually ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack on the OnePlus 5, but that remains to be seen.
