When it comes to launch events, OnePlus definitely likes to put on a show. During last year’s unveiling of the OnePlus 2, the company gave away 30,000 Google Cardboard-style VR viewers. This year, OnePlus intends to gift 30,000 OnePlus Loop VR Headsets for the official debut of OnePlus 3 and allow users to experience the launch in VR.

GizmoChina reports that OnePlus intends to set the launch at the company’s virtual space station called Loop. Last year, users could experience the OnePlus offices in virtual reality, but it seems that this year, the company has decided to take it up a notch.

The company will allow users to directly purchase the OnePlus 3 flagship in the Loop, before everyone else can get their hands on it. The company partnered with Ant VR to provide 30,000 VR headsets to fans for free.

This would mean a bigger financial effort from OnePlus, but it is a good way to increase the popularity of the upcoming smartphone, since the VR headsets could become collectible items.

VR headset orders will begin shipping on June 6

The latest rumors suggest that the OnePlus 3 could come with a 5.5-inch display and 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. It might pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC and have a 3000 mAh battery, together with USB Type-C support and 4GB of RAM.

The rear camera is set to reach 16MP while the front selfie snapper could have 8MP. It should run OxygenOS 3.0, which is based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. It is said that the OnePlus 3 could be unveiled in July, but that remains to be seen.

Fans can get the VR headset from the company's website. The devices have a weight of 366g and come in White and Black colors, and the site mentions that they will begin shipping on June 6. The VR headset won’t be going on sale, since it was designed solely for marketing the upcoming OnePlus 3.
