14 DAY TRIAL // NVIDIA has recently published the first GeForce drivers for Windows 10 version 1809 (October 2018 Update), and obviously, customers are recommended to install them as soon as possible.
In case you’re wondering what’s the urge for installing new drivers, it’s all because new OS feature updates could be affected by compatibility issues, very often caused by driver software.
Basically, Microsoft works with partners to ensure that everything runs smoothly for most hardware, but there are cases when glitches are still experienced, as it’s the case of the Intel drivers that forced Microsoft to block the October 2018 Update on specific systems earlier this week.
In the case of NVIDIA graphics cards, the new drivers are now available for download with improved support for October 2018 Update, which means that after the install, the potential compatibility issues and bugs caused by the update should be resolved.
Known bug on Windows 10 version 1809
GeForce 416.16 also includes fixes for a number of games and applications on Windows 10. For instance, it resolves black square glitches in Quake HD Remix with soft shadows enabled and it finally addresses the performance drop in Rainbow 6: Siege with temporal antialiasing.
Very important to know is that the known issues list includes a reference to a Windows 10 crash that may also be experienced by October 2018 Update users.
NVIDIA says that Windows Media Player could crash under certain circumstances, and while this is a known bug, a fix isn’t available just yet.
