14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung has only launched its Tizen smartphones in select emerging markets and will probably never introduce them to more competitive markets since they're not meant for them.
Currently, Tizen smartphones like the Z1, Z2 and Z3 are available in many countries like India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Indonesia, Malaysia and a couple more. While the availability of Tizen OS might expand to additional territories, they will all be emerging markets.
Obviously, those purchasing Tizen smartphones can choose Android devices as well, but for some reason, they are willing to take the plunge into the unknown. But what if you could have the best of both worlds, Android and Tizen in a single smartphone?
Well, that's clearly nearly impossible to achieve, but at least there's a way to get a taste of what Android Nougat has to offer. Not much, just a very small taste. A developer who goes by the name of Slawomir Musial has just released an interesting application in the Tizen Store.
A rather rudimentary app launcher compared to what you can get on Android OS
The application is called Nougat Launcher and, as the name suggests, it tries to offer Tizen users a taste of what Google is providing those who chose Android over other mobile platforms.
As TizenExperts points out, the Nougat Launcher will put six of your most used applications on the homescreen such as Call, Messages, Email, Tizen Store, Interest and Calendar.
The application comes with a search bar that allows you to search for specific apps installed on your phone. If you press the Left Soft Key, a Phone option button for recent apps will show up on the screen.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to add new apps on the homescreen, or replace the ones that are placed there by default. While Nougat Launcher seems a rather rudimentary launcher compared to its Android counterparts, it's worth mentioning that this is the first of its kind.
