HMD Global announced three smartphones and two feature phones this year, but the company is expected to unveil up to seven Nokia-branded Android phones in 2017. Nokia 3, 5 and 6 are said to release in 120 markets from around the world in Q2.

But Q2 will also mark the unveil of a new set of Nokia phones, according to Ajey Mehta, vice president of HMD Mobile India. In an interview, the executive has revealed that HMD Global intends to announce new devices by the end of Q2 this year, according to NPU.

This means that we can expect the company to introduce Nokia 9, as well as a number of other phones by late June or early July. Aside from the premium Nokia 9, HMD Global could also introduce the Nokia 7 and 8, mid-rangers that were recently spotted running the Snapdragon 660 platform. In addition, one of the two devices will have a 1080p display, while the second will come with a QHD screen. Metallic design, thinner bezels and uni-body frame give the two devices a premium feel.

HMD Global might also let customers exchange old phones

Aside from new announcements, HMD Global is also analyzing options to bring their newly unveiled devices closer to customers. Owners of Nokia phones might be able to exchange their old devices and get credit facilities.

“We have 400 distributors and 80,000 retail outlets through which we will take our phones to the consumer. We will also sell the phones online. We should launch our next set of phones by the end of Q2 this year,” said Ajey Mehta.

The most exciting Nokia-branded smartphone to be announced soon is Nokia 9. The device is said to come with a price tag of about $699 in the US and run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 platform. Moreover, RAM capacity inside the new smartphone could reach 6GB with 128GB of internal storage.

If the smartphone is unveiled in late Q2, there’s a high chance that it could hit shelves towards the end of Q3, as previous reports suggested.
