Nokia is apparently working on an upcoming smartphone that might run the latest version of Android OS. Nokia D1C was run through Geekbench multiple times, and although it didn't score that high, the listing did show that the smartphone could come with Android 7.0 Nougat.

Nokia D1C was run through Geekbench about five times recently, according to PhoneArena. The listing did provide some details on the upcoming smartphone, namely the fact that it carried Qualcomm's Snapdragon 430 SoC and featured an octa-core 1.4GHz CPU. In addition, the smartphone appears to have 3GB of RAM inside and Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed.

These specs point towards a low to mid-range smartphone, but Nokia might make some changes to components before it announces the phone. Nokia D1C scored 682 points during the single-core test and 3229 during the multi-core one.

Nokia could announce 3 to 4 devices running Android this year

Earlier this year, a high-ranking Nokia executive stated that the company could release three to four Nokia devices running Android this year. The devices could be announced as soon as the last quarter of 2016, with the launch scheduled in early 2017.

There's not much information on the upcoming Nokia-branded Android smartphones, but some say that at least two of the devices will be included in the premium range. The phones were recently run through Geekbench, which revealed that they might run Snapdragon 821 processors and have 5.2- and 5.5-inch QHD OLED displays.

In addition, rear camera capacity on the devices could reach 22.6MP and they might have IP68 certification for protection against damages potentially caused by water and dust. They might come with full metal bodies and the Z-Launcher System UI, based on Android 7.0 Nougat.

RAM capacity seems to be just 2GB, but considering that the phones are early prototypes, it's highly likely that more RAM could be added before the official launch. More information on Nokia devices running Android is bound to surface soon.
