14 DAY TRIAL // The Magister, that card-battler murder-mystery RPG that we told you about back in August, is coming to Nintendo Switch, in addition to PC. The indie game developed by Nerdook will be available on PC (via Steam) and Nintendo Switch sometime in early 2021, so stay tuned for more details about the release date.
What's important to mention is that players can try out the game right now on PC. Starting today and through October 13, a PC demo of The Magister will be available for download at no cost.
Is title most likely explains quite well what's this game all about. In The Magister, players take the role of a Magister (duh!), who are agents assigned to enforce the rule of law in some of the provinces of the Empire. You will be dispatched to the remote village of Silverhurst to investigate the grim demise of a fellow Magister. The catch is that you only have 14 days to solve the case.
You'll be encouraged to build and customize your deck to fight in battles or use ‘Tactical Diplomacy’ to pacify those who stand in your way while gathering clues and discover motives as you investigate the death of your predecessor and unmask the guilty culprit.
The Magister offers players unique experiences since just about everything happening in the game is randomly generated. The events, clues, motives, and murderer change with every playthrough, which means it's up to each and everyone to identify the guilty suspect.
Equally important are the tactical card-based encounters where players' combat and negotiation skills are determined by the cards in their decks. However, the game lets players use a more peaceful method to negotiate with enemies by using ‘Tactical Diplomacy.’
Interesting enough, there will be more Magisters to choose from, each with their own specialties and flaws. From cunning alcoholic to intelligent insomniac, so every variation will define a different adventure.
Last but not least, The Magister will also allow players to recruit a human ally or furry companion. A Mercenary, Spy, or Sage can be recruited to assist players in their investigation, but they can also befriend one of the local cats or dogs to fight by your side in battles.
