14 DAY TRIAL // The Moto G4 was among the first Motorola smartphones to get an Android 7.0 Nougat soak test back in October, but the US-based company did not mention when exactly the update would be available for download.
Today, several Motorola Moto G4 owners in India claim they have successfully captured the highly-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update in their phones.
As AndroidPolice reports, Motorola updated the Indian support page of the Moto G4 with full details about Android 7.0 Nougat a few months ago, but the actual OTA update never arrived until today.
If you rock the Moto G4 or the Moto G4 Plus and live in India, it's worth checking for software update with build number NPS25.93-11. Even though Motorola is pushing the OTA (over the air) file in a staged manner, you can manually check for its availability.
According to the official changelog, the update brings many enhancements including new multitasking features, more efficient notification controls and improved data saver and battery features.
There's also a new feature in Moto Actions that will allow users to shrink the screen when swiping on it. In addition, Motorola included the November security patch, so expect to receive another small update in the future that will bring the newest security patches.
It's also worth noting that some Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus owners in Brazil have captured the update as well, but for the time being it's unclear whether or not Motorola will push Android 7.0 Nougat globally.
Motorola has yet to make any comments on the matter, so until we get a confirmation on the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat, nothing is certain.
The Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are not the first Motorola smartphones to receive this major software update. The US handset maker has already kicked off the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat for the Moto Z in the United States and will soon deploy the update in Europe as well.
