Motorola is one of the first OEMs to provide its customers with the highly-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update. For the time being, only a handful of smartphones have received the update, but the US-based company has already confirmed many more will get it in the coming months.

The first Motorola smartphones to receive the update, the Moto Z and Moto G (4th Gen), have been upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat.

The rollout started in the United States last month, but Motorola has confirmed the Europeans will be able to download and install Android 7.0 Nougat starting this month.

However, there's one other smartphone that Motorola plans to upgrade, the Moto X Play. Even though the phone wasn't among the first to get the update, Moto X Play owners will be pleased to know that Motorola has a nice surprise for them.

The Moto X Play will be upgraded directly to Android 7.1.1 Nougat, thus skipping the update that the other two smartphones have already received.

We believe the information to be correct since the Moto X Play has been recently spotted in GFXBench, a benchmark used by any Android user to test the hardware capabilities of their smartphone.

According to the listing at GFXBench, the Moto X Play runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, so there's a high chance that this will be Motorola's next smartphone to receive the update.

And since Motorola Germany already indicated the Moto X Play would get its Nougat update in early 2017, those who use the device won't have to wait more than a month probably.

Obviously, the rest of Motorola's lineup is supposed to be upgraded to Android 7.1.1 Nougat next year as well, including the Moto X Force, Moto X Pure and Moto Z Play. Now it's just a matter of when, not if, these devices will receive the update, so stay tuned for more on this one.
