There’s quite a buzz surrounding the upcoming Motorola Moto X 2016 phone, considering that pictures of the device continue to surface online at a surprisingly fast pace. A few days ago, Motorola showcased images of the upcoming Moto X on its official Google+ page and new images were sent today to Mobipicker, showing the front panel of the device.

The images show the front part of the phone, clearly illustrating that the device will come with fairly curved edges and a display of about 5.5 inches. A Home button was placed below the screen and it will most likely act as a fingerprint sensor for user authentication.

A ‘Moto’ text branding is placed above the button and the leakster suggested that the display will be an AMOLED panel with Moto’s Shattershield protection, as featured on the DROID Turbo 2, released in October last year.

Moto X 2016 to come in two variants

Rumors suggest that Motorola will be launching two variants of the Moto X, but only their codenames are known: Vector and Vertex. The Vector will supposedly be the premium version, with a 5.5-inch screen and 1440p resolution, as well as Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2GHz.

The camera is said to have 13MP with optical image stabilization and a battery capacity of 2600 mAh. It is believed to come with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage, all packed in a thin metal body of just 5.2mm.

Vertex is supposedly a downgraded version of the Vector, with the same display size but a lower resolution of 1080p. The design is all metal but a bit more robust at 7mm thick, to provide enough room for a bigger battery (3500mAh).

Allegedly, it might come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.4GHz and 16GB of internal memory. The camera might reach 16MP but without optical image stabilization. Still, it will have laser and phase-detect focus system.

There’s no official information on the release date, but rumors suggest that the devices might be unveiled on June 9 during Tech World Conference in San Francisco. On that day, Lenovo intends to unveil the highly anticipated Project Tango phone.
