Would you believe if we told you there's a smartphone that looks like a Galaxy S7 edge, packs pretty decent specs, and costs just a fraction of Samsung's flagship? We know it's hard to believe, but that's how the Chinese smartphone market works.

Many handset makers in China are barely making any money out of their phones, but instead they push various apps and services that they want you to use with their products. The Elephone S7 is such a device, one that reminds us that a smartphone shouldn't cost a small fortune to look good.

The Elephone S7 comes in two variations: with 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch display. Both displays feature Corning Gorilla Glass and full HD (1080p) resolution, but the best thing about the Chinese handset is the fact that it's coated with 3D glass that features a light-reflecting pattern, especially on the back.

Another thing that you'll notice at first glance is the very thin bezels, something that handset makers have barely started to explore. The phone comes in four different colors: blue, gold, black, and green.

Hardware-wise, the Elephone S7 is far from being impressive, but it's far from being bad. The smartphone is equipped with a MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core processor, along with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage, 3GB or 32GB of storage, or 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage.

Both S7 models come with microSD card for memory expansion, so that shouldn't be an issue. The less-featured version packs a smaller 2,450 mAh battery, whereas the other model includes a 3,000 mAh battery inside.

Both variants come with 13-megapixel cameras with LED flash on the back, as well as 5-megapixel selfie cameras.

Obviously, since they have been launched in China, they come with dual-SIM support, and they also feature a fingerprint sensor.

When it comes to software, the Elephone S7 ships with the Android Marshmallow operating system right out of the box, but the Chinese company promised an Android 7.0 Nougat update would be released in the coming months.

Now about the price, the cheapest version of the Elephone S7 (2GB RAM/16GB storage) costs just $139.99, while the most expensive (4GB RAM/64GB storage) is priced to sell for $239.99.
