An impressive device that will be hard to find outside China

We don't usually report on smartphones that have been exclusively built for the Chinese market and won't be released in other countries, but the Gionee M2017 piqued our interest due to its impressive hardware configuration.

The Gionee M2017 hasn't been officially unveiled yet, but a set of live pictures of the phone have already been leaked in China, along with its main specs.

You've probably read before about smartphones with humongous 5,000 mAh batteries, which are usually a China-only affair. But we bet you've never heard about phones with even larger batteries.

If rumors are true, Gionee M2017 could pack an incredible 7,000 mAh battery inside. We're very anxious to find out how thick the M2017 is thanks to such a large battery, but we'll probably learn more in the coming weeks.

However, the large 7,000 mAh battery is not the only impressive feature that comes inside the Gionee M2017. The smartphone comes with all the ingredients required to be tagged as a flagship smartphone.

A true flagship at the cost of a mid-range smartphone?

For example, the smartphone boasts a large 5.7-inch display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. In addition, Gionee has decided to adopt the dual-camera setup that's becoming a trend in the West.

The M2017 is said to feature two camera sensors of 13 megapixels and 12 megapixels on the back, while in the front there's an 8-megapixel secondary camera for selfies and video calls.

Unfortunately, we know nothing about the chipset inside the Gionee M2017, but the leak reveals the fact that the smartphone packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory (no mention of microSD card slot, though).

We doubt the Gionee M2017 will be released in countries other than China, but there's a slight chance that Android fans will be able to buy one from third-party Chinese retailers that will ship it internationally at no extra costs.
